If you can sing, dance, act, sew, saw or even just smile -
We need your help!

Any one can join the society, regardless of their singing or acting ability as there are many other roles available behind the scenes! However, those wishing to perform in our productions must successfully complete a small audition prior to joining.

We are always looking for new members to join our society and welcome anyone who has an interest in theatre. Even if you don't want to perform, there are plenty of other roles for you to choose from...

If you like meeting people you would be a useful asset to our 'Front of House' team, welcoming our audience to the theatre, selling programmes and raffle tickets etc.

Seamstresses are valued members as there are always costumes to be made and alterations to be done!

Perhaps you are a musician? We often require extra support in this department!

Are you a talented with a paintbrush or screw-driver? Every show needs scenery and props to be sourced and/or made.

Can you style hair, or apply make-up? If so, you would be a real help backstage.

Or, if none of the above are right for you, how about joining our stage crew - an integral part of any show - the unsung heroes of the theatre! From moving scenery and setting props to opening/closing tabs and curtain, you will need to be physically fit and alert to do this vital role.

Becoming a member
Andover Musical & Operatic Society is made up of a diverse group of individuals with a common interest – theatre! Our members range in age from 16 to 60 (You must be at least 16 years of age to join the main Society) and a wide range of professions is represented so it's an excellent opportunity to meet new friends from diverse array of backgrounds. Auditions for new members wishing to perform may take place at any time so long as there are two or more members of the committee present.

Show Auditions
A few weeks before the Audition day, librettos and musical scores will be made available to all paid-up members of the society. Details of the Audition songs and script are displayed along with brief characterizations for each role on offer. Rehearsal time is given to everyone equally so that they may practice the musical numbers with our resident accompanist before the Audition day.

The Costs Involved
The annual Membership Fee is £100 per year for adults (
£50 for 65 and over, 14-16 year olds and students with a valid ID) and includes the majority of your costumes, however please note that while we aim to supply all costumes whenever possible,  you may on occasions be asked to supply items of costume/props and accessories.

All members are expected to provide their own appropriate rehearsal gear - comfy clothes, appropriate dance shoes etc.

We would prefer you to pay the membership fee annually but we udnerstand that this is not always possible and so we offer payment by 10 monthly installments (by standing order).

Please note that before you are allowed to audition for a part in a show, a £5 deposit is required from non-members (this is deductable from the full membership fee, should you decide to join the society).

Rehearsal Dates and Venue
All rehearsals are held at St Michaels Church Hall, Colebrook Way, Andover.
