Auditions will take place on Sunday 10th January 2010. Pre-audition rehearsals will take place on Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th January. Director Claire Nias will be giving an introduction to Calamity Jane on Tuesday 8th December 2009, 7.30pm onwards. ![]() AMOS will be carol singing in The Chantry centre on Saturday 21st November and Saturday 12th December to raise money for Naomi House Childrens Hospice. Last year we were pleased to have raised over £300 for the childrens charity who have struggled this year due to some of their fund being tied up in an Icelandic bank. It is such a worthy cause that helps so many children in our area, this year we would like to raise even more so in addition to our carol singing we will also be collecting donations at the theatre during our production of Scrooge. For more information about Naomi House visit their website: www.naomihouse.org.uk ![]() AMOS are pleased to announce that we have secured a sponsorship deal for our production of ‘Scrooge’ with Advent Print Group. Andover based printers, Advent Print Group have agreed to print all of our promotional materials for ‘Scrooge’ in return for some mutual publicity with AMOS. Advent already help a number of other local groups and charities and were pleased to be approached by AMOS in our search for a sponsorship deal as the company Sales Director, Daniel De Marco explained to us, "We like to invest in our local community and AMOS appealed to us as we have experience in printing materials to promote the Arts - we print The Anvil Show Guide, The Watermill Theatre Guide and Programmes for the British Animation Awards Nominations. We are really looking forward to working with AMOS and to seeing Scrooge! " Society Marketing & Development Officer Louise Ellison was responsible for orchestrating the deal, which has been agreed at the eleventh hour after a three month campaign trying to find a local company to sponsor the society. “Finding a sponsor has been a challenge to say the least - Many local businesses are feeling the pinch of the credit crunch and thus simply don’t have spare cash for sponsorship and if they do, they are looking to help charities rather than groups like ours, but luckily for us Advent jumped at the chance! Printing posters and flyers etc is an expensive but neccessary part of promoting our productions, so to have this support will really help our profit margins.” Although we have the support of Advent, we would still welcome support from other local businesses either in the form of financial donation or services in kind, eg. goods for our raffle etc. so if you know of any companies who may be interested, please tell them about AMOS and ask them to take a look at the Sponsorship page on our website from more details. The last 2.5 years have been a bit of a whirlwind for AMOS, what with our committee restructure and our return in 2007 to the refurbished Cricklade Theatre - now known as The Lights. The restructure has proved a great success, and building on the foundations laid by Sue and John Parker, Carol and the team have made excellent headway developing the society into a modern, forward-thinking group. The facilities at The Lights have enabled us to put on some more challenging and elaborate shows... We started off in 2007 with 'My Fair Lady' which was a great success, followed in 2008 by 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (which was nominated for three Curtain Call Awards), and 'The Pajama Game', then in 2009 there was 'The King and I' - our most financially succesful show for quite some time! We are now working on 'Scrooge' due to take to the stage 1st-5th December which we are sure will be a popular show. To celebrate our success over the last five shows we have decided to hold an awards ceremony to reward those who have performed will both on and off the stage with AMOS! The awards presentation will be incorporated into the Christmas Ball on 19th December at The Quality Hotel. As well as the typical awards for Best Actor and Best Actress etc, there will also be some fun awards, and some extra special ones to be announced closer to the time! |
