AMOS member Jez Jameson took a starring role this weekend - as Christ in the Andover Passion Play.
Written and adapted by Peter Hutley MBE, the Passion Play graphically recreated the scenes of the crucifixion, starting with the walk of witness from the Baptist Church then along Junction Road, through the leisure centre and into the town centre, where the action took place between the time ring and the Guildhall. The production was produced by Sharon O’Leary, who assembled a cast of 65 from members of the various local communities, helped by Andover Churches Together with the support of Test Valley Borough Council.

I simply have to tell you all about the wonderful singing rehearsal we had last night...
As my character doesn't appear until the end of the first act, I haven't been to many full chorus rehearsals, but last night we had singing practice for the whole cast and it was brilliant!
I thoroughly enjoyed it - singing four part harmony with a room full of people and a piano is just fantastic fun! The best part though, was listening to our male chorus, which for this production is made up of, wait for it.... nine men!!! Boosted in numbers by new members Scott Goodair, Rob Talbot and Jason Davenhill, and with the return of John Parker, the mens chorus sounded just lovely.

An am dram society can never have too many men though, so if you or anyone you know might like to join us - get in touch!

A small group of us donned our Scrooge costumes and spent 2 hours Carol singing in Andover's Chantry Centre on Saturday. Raising money for Naomi House we sang a variety of festive favourites such as White Christmas, Jingle Bells, Bethlehem and Hark the Herald Angels Sing!
Passing shoppers seemed to enjoy of performance and gave very generously - we won't be counting up the collection until after Scrooge but the buckets were very heavy! Fingers crossed the people of Andover have been generous!

On Thursday 19th November, star of 'Scrooge' Paul Marsh went to Castledown Radio station and was interviewed live 'on air' by morning show presenter Rick Young. Paul did a great job telling listeners about the show - hopefully it will drum up some interest from the people of Ludgershall, Tidworth and the surrounding villages. You can listen to Pauls interview by clicking HERE.

The last 2.5 years have been a bit of a whirlwind for AMOS, what with our committee restructure and our return in 2007 to the refurbished Cricklade Theatre - now known as The Lights.

The restructure has proved a great success, and building on the foundations laid by Sue and John Parker, Carol and the team have made excellent headway developing the society into a modern, forward-thinking group. The facilities at The Lights have enabled us to put on some more challenging and elaborate shows... We started off in 2007 with 'My Fair Lady' which was a great success, followed in 2008 by 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (which was nominated for three Curtain Call Awards), and 'The Pajama Game', then in 2009 there was 'The King and I' - our most financially succesful show for quite some time! We are now working on 'Scrooge' due to take to the stage 1st-5th December which we are sure will be a popular show.

To celebrate our success over the last five shows we have decided to hold an awards ceremony to reward those who have performed will both on and off the stage with AMOS! The awards presentation will be incorporated into the Christmas Ball on 19th December at The Quality Hotel.

As well as the typical awards for Best Actor and Best Actress etc, there will also be some fun awards, and some extra special ones to be announced closer to the time!

This is something I'm very excited about so I had to add it to the news feed! A new musical film with an all-star cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren & Stacy (Fergie) Ferguson!!!

Based on the original 1982 Broadway production of “NINE,” with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, (it won five Tony Awards including Best Musical), “NINE” is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

The film is directed by Rob Marshall the guy who did the film version of "CHICAGO" starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rennee Zellwegger.

You can watch the trailer here http://weinsteinco.com/#/film/nine

The film is expected to be release in November or December - I cannot contain myself!
